This Western-style restaurant was opened by the Shinobazu Pond when Ueno Park was first opened. This is one of the oldest French restaurants in Japan. During the Meiji period, many nobles and celebrities drove up with their carriages and the place symbolized the great cultural blossoming of the time. Literary works of Sosuke Natsume and Ougai Mori make reference to this place.
